The los Angeles Abrasion Machine is used to determine the abrasion resistance of coarseaggregates, lt is essential in evaluating the durability and toughness of aggregates used in roadconstruction and other civil engineering applications. The machine consists of a steel drumrotating at a specified speed, into which aggregates and abrasive steel balls are placed. As thedrum rotates, impact and grinding actions break down the aggregates, and the resulting loss inweight indicates the abrasion resistance. This test method follows standards such as ASTM C131and AASHTO T96.
